Bible verses God is remind me of today!

So, I've been praying, reading, spending time with God. Today he is really reminding me of many verses, so I'm putting them here so they can encourage any of you too!

Psalm 94:17-19: If God hadn't been there for me, I never would have made it. The minute I said, "I'm slipping, I'm falling," your love, God, took hold and held me fast. When I was upset and beside myself, you calmed me down and cheered me up.

Psalm 34: (v2) I live and breathe God; if things aren't going well, hear this and be happy, (v4) God met me more than halfway, he freed me from my anxious fears, (v6) when I was desperate, I called out, and God got me out of a tight spot. (v17) Is anyone crying out for help? God is listening, ready o rescue you.

Psalm 29v11: God makes his people strong, God gives his people peace.

Psalm 31v24: Be brave. Be strong. Don't give up. Expect God o get here soon.

Psalm 33v19-21: he is ready to come to their rescue in bad times; in lean times he keeps body and soul together. We're depending on God; he is everything we need. What's more, our herts brim with joy since we've taken for our own his holy name.

Psalm 139v14: I praise you because you made me in an amazing and wonderful way. What you have done is wonderful. I know this very well.

Philippians 4v6: Don't fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns.

Baggage...

So, today I went to Birchfield church to see a couple of young people get baptised (which was amazing). And the head of the church showed this video about carrying Baggage. Its a really amazing video and made me think - what is the baggage in my life?

When we are/get/were baptised we died to our sinful nature, we left our baggage in our old life and started a fresh life. But I wonder, what baggage have we either re-picked up, or picked up for the first time since that day of baptism?

Christ invites us to leave our baggage at the cross with him.  Matthew 11v28 says: Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest."

What are you lugging around with you? What is making it difficult for you to follow Christ today? Is it a situation? Is it an attitude? Is it a past hurt or experience?

I challenge you (and myself) to leave it at the cross today, let Jesus take care of it, and walk freely with God.

SWYM

So, Returning from my CRAZY summer, I started SWYM! YAAAAAAY!

SWYM = South West Youth Ministries.

So, I am doing the foundation year with SWYM, called Be Transformed and it includes a course called Engage. My placement for this year is in Yeovil as part of the Urban Warriors team :)

For the first week, we had Induction - which is for all the first years of SWYM to get to spend time together and learn together! It was an amazing week and I've already made many friendships that I know will last! We had lots of time to spend with God, Lectures, worship time etc etc! We went out into Bridgewater to do evangelism on the street which was sccary but AMAZING! God defineatly challenged me this week in many many ways, including searching my heart for what my heart behind a lot of my actions is - is it love? or is it just that I know its good and its what I've always done! Also learned a way to get to sleep when I can't sleep - The thankful alphabet, which works most of the time :)

Then, after 6 days, 30 more people arrive (totalling 60) and then we have to learn everyones names again (and by this point, having hardly slept for 6 days and been super busy I literally couldnt take in information and process it anymore)! But once we got to know each other it was another amazing four days! We got to learn about discipleship and different areas of it, and got to get to know each other a little better in our small groups - mine is AMAZING!

God spoke to me a lot during those two weeks (and continues to do so...) and some of the things were really difficult to hear, some of the things were really challenging to do when god said to do them, but I have also learnt to trust God, his plans are for good, and if we are obedient to him then we can trust that he has the best plans for our lives!

We then got Commisioned to go out into the south west and love people - specifically young people, but not exclusivley! What a challenge, and what a priveledge!

Busy Busy Busy Summer!

So, I don't know about you, but I have had a CRAZY summer!

It started off with being in North Wales for a week with my mum and my brother - staying with my amazing grandparents! It was an awesome week, getting to spend time with family I don't see very often, seeing the beautiful countryside of the Glyn Ceriog Valley and generally enjoying relaxing!

When I returned late on the friday night, I then worked and went straight to my first EVER New Wine - CSW week - where I worked on the Thirst (15-18s) team in the Vibe cafe! It was an amazing week, getting to chat to so many awesome young people - praying for them and seeing the ways God is working in their lives - such a priveledge to be a part of what God is doing! We did have some interesting points - like flooding venues and tents - but God never leaves us, and he saw that everything carried on as he wanted it!

Returning from New Wine, I had 3 days to recover, wash clothes and re-pack before going to my first week of soul survivor! This week was spent with the youth from my church and the wonderful 15+ leaders! It was an amazing week - NO FLOODING TENTS! I've never worshipped with so many people in one tent - I have been to soul survivor before but normally go for week C which is less busy! I then carried on to do Soul Survivor Week C - working in the Soul Action Cafe with my friend Susie! This was an amazing week too, I got to see some people I had met at New Wine, hear all the talks twice - this time in a more spacious tent! I worked with an amazing group of people on the soul action cafe and loved every minute of it - despite flooding tents (AGAIN!!!)

My God Made me BEAUTIFUL

So, the dance exams are finally OVER!
Now just all the written ones to go!
and in the process I am using my revision breaks well, for example I made this:
Because my God did make me beautiful, which isnt something I always find easy to remember or believe - However it is true, he made me in his image and he is beautiful! Also, I dont believe God is capable of making something Ugly by his standards - the only standards that should matter to us!
So to anyone out there...You are beautiful, God thinks so, and if the creator of the universe thinks your beautiful and amazing then what else matters?

My Lord's Prayer

A while ago, at afterchurch, the 15+ learnt about The Lords Prayer:
Matthew 6v9-13 (NIV)
9 “This, then, is how you should pray:
“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.’
or as it is put in the message (which made me and my rachel laugh quite a lot):
   Our Father in heaven,
Reveal who you are.
Set the world right;
Do what's best— as above, so below.
Keep us alive with three square meals.
Keep us forgiven with you and forgiving others.
Keep us safe from ourselves and the Devil.
You're in charge!
You can do anything you want!
You're ablaze in beauty!
Yes. Yes. Yes.

Anyway, we all then wrote our own version, which I use as my prayer fairly often!

"Loving Father in Heaven,
Reveal all you are to me.
Bring your will to this earth,
let all humanity be in awe of you,
just like in heaven.
Give me the strength I need to get through each day,
forgive me when I mess stuff up,
and help me to forgive myself and others.
Help me to focus on you and not to stray from your way,
even when it is hard or hurts a lot.
Deliver me from sin and all that restricts me so I am able to fly for you.
Because everything belongs to you,
it always has and it always will!
You are amazing, yesterday, today and forever.

Try making your own!

This week...

Life can be crazy and busy sometimes can't it?
I had my dance exam for my A-level yesterday, so this week has been crazy with rehearsals! Monday - tech, tuesday - rehearsal, wednesday - exam, thursday - ballet lesson and practice, friday - tech rehearsal and show! CRAZY HECTIC BUSY!!

These are my two choreographies!

The first - called internalisation is about an internal battle which could be between good and evil, death and life, temptation and freedom. It is a group piece based on music my Philip Glass and Michael Riseman.

The second is called Journey, and isbased on Alvin Ailey's chroeographies, specifically revelation, based on spiritual beliefs and gospel music. The dance is about healing and restoration, the darkness that is before and then the joy that comes through the death of Jesus on the cross (kind of relevent seen as it's just been easter!). While creating it I also looked at many stories of healing in the bible, specifically Where in Mark 5, Jesus brings Jairus' daughter back to life...
21 When Jesus had again crossed over by boat to the other side of the lake, a large crowd gathered around him while he was by the lake. 22 Then one of the synagogue leaders, named Jairus, came, and when he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet. 23 He pleaded earnestly with him, “My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live.” 24 So Jesus went with him.
35 While Jesus was still speaking, some people came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader. “Your daughter is dead,” they said. “Why bother the teacher anymore?”
36 Overhearing[c] what they said, Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.”
37 He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James and John the brother of James. 38 When they came to the home of the synagogue leader, Jesus saw a commotion, with people crying and wailing loudly. 39 He went in and said to them, “Why all this commotion and wailing? The child is not dead but asleep.” 40 But they laughed at him.
After he put them all out, he took the child’s father and mother and the disciples who were with him, and went in where the child was. 41 He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum!” (which means “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”). 42 Immediately the girl stood up and began to walk around (she was twelve years old). At this they were completely astonished. 43 He gave strict orders not to let anyone know about this, and told them to give her something to eat.

Just some Background information for those who want to know more!

The exams went really well, I was so pleased with how all the work looked on the stage and I hope the examiner liked them too! Now just the show to go and then thats the practical part of my a-level finished!

Welcome, welcome, welcome :)
